We were recently invited to a media event for the grand opening of Memphis Blues Barbeque House‘s newest Robson Street location. This is now their third Vancouver location, with two others in Surrey. The event took place late in the afternoon, and was walking distance from my office. On such a nice sunny day, it was a great excuse to leave work a bit early. Immediately upon walking in, the strong aroma of BBQ meats hit me like a train. We were greeted by their friendly staff who were standing behind huge trays of meat, eager to serve us. With their entire BBQ menu on display, it was definitely not an event for vegetarians. We were joined by other hungry carnivores like Rick, Tien, Victoria, Cassandra, and more.
I am a huge fan of their housemade BBQ sauce and I think that’s more than half the battle when it comes to good BBQ meats. They are, in my opinion, the best BBQ house in Vancouver. And it would appear that a lot of people in Vancouver would agree, as they were recently awarded the Georgia Straight Golden Plates readers’ choice 2012 award for Best BBQ in Vancouver.
Being walking distance to my office, it has become a very viable lunchtime option for me. I have to watch myself though, as the dreaded meat coma can be a real productivity killer. The new location is on Robson near Homer. They have a big screen TV to watch games on, and they’re also stumbling distance to Rogers Arena and BC Place Stadium. If you haven’t tried them out yet, I would encourage you to check out one of their five Lower Mainland locations.
