Porsche Centre Langley Grand Opening – OpenRoad Auto Group – @OpenRoadCA

This past week, OpenRoad Auto Group threw a party to celebrate the grand opening of their new Porsche Centre Langley dealership. With over 400 guests in attendance, some of the notable attendees included City of Langley Mayor Ted Schaffer, and Alexander Pollich, President and CEO of Porsche Cars Canada.

The dealership is located inside the Langley Auto Collection, a luxury auto mall owned and operated by OpenRoad which includes dealerships for Audi, BMW, MINI, Infiniti, and soon, Jaguar Land Rover.

In addition to the numerous photos lining the hallways that showcase the iconic heritage and premium culture that is Porsche, there was also an impressive lineup of vintage Porsche models on display. They were all well maintained, and clues led to determining which cars were still being driven on the road based on their insurance stickers!

Their service bay was set up to display their current model lineup. They even had a $1.3 million Porsche 918 Spyder on display, which had already been sold to a Langley resident. You won’t see many of these in BC, so if you spot it, your eyes are in for a treat.

This hybrid hypercar is the fastest production road car in the world, boasting an electric motor and a gas engine, allowing it to produce 887 horsepower and 940 lb-ft of torque. It takes just 2.2 seconds to launch itself from 0 to 60 mph, and it boasts a top speed of 211 mph. Absolutely mind-boggling numbers, especially considering that its fuel economy is rated at 20 miles per gallon in the city. I suppose it’s only fair that you save money on gas after buying a car that costs as much as a detached house in Vancouver. To put it into perspective, with that amount of money, you could buy 2 Lamborghini Aventadors and still likely have money left over for a condo.

We were also treated to an exclusive performance by Juno-award winning artist, LIGHTS, who performed a long set which featured many of her popular hits including her debut single “Drive My Soul”. We saw her perform a few years ago in Squamish, so it was a nice surprise to see her again.

Left: We enjoyed a delicious selection of wines and canapés, with a cocktail station nearby if you fancied some creative concoctions; Right: Ethiopian artist Yared Nigussu live painted several iconic Porsche photographs, which were sold that evening via silent auction.

Visit porschelangley.com for more information. They’re located at 6016 Collection Drive in Langley, BC. We had a lovely time and it was great to see all the Porsche models. We may not be purchasing one in the near future, but it sure was fun imagining what we’d drive given our expected arrival next month.
