UPDATE (Giveaway): BabyBjorn Bouncer Mini – Product Review & Giveaway

UPDATED: Winner announced at the end of this post

There’s no doubt that being a parent is hard work. It has been a couple of months since our daughter Jasmine was born, and being new parents has its own set of challenges as we adjust to having a new person in our lives who only sleeps, feeds, and poops all day. Whenever she cries, we will try everything in the book to soothe her. Despite being sleep deprived, I am happy to report that parenthood rocks.

While our place is slowly being overridden by baby gear, play mats and toys, and with each item serving a unique purpose, it’s even difficult to imagine how we’d be able to survive a day without them. One of the things I’ve heard that all new parents must get is a bouncer. At first I was a bit skeptical, as some have told me that their babies hated it. But it’s one of those items that you can’t knock it until you try it. I was fortunate to get a Bouncer Mini from BabyBjörn when they first released it in Canada earlier this year, and I couldn’t wait to test this out with our little girl.

Baby BjornIt’s a simple looking minimalistic design, but they’ve put a lot of thought into compatibility and portability for newborns. A lot of the bouncers and swings we’ve looked at for our baby registry seemed to be more appropriate for older babies, specifically like 3 months and older. With this bouncer, we were able to start using it within the first few days after returning home from the hospital, and have been using it every day since. The soft fabric of this bouncer contours to the baby’s body so it feels like they’re being cradled. From time to time, our daughter would fall asleep in the bouncer because of the soft bounce that it makes whenever she moves.  The fabric can easily be taken out to wash, as we’ve had to do that one time when Jasmine spat up after a feed.

It is really easy to assemble, so we often bring it with us when we visit our parents so she has some place to lie down safely. At home, we can easily move it into our bedroom or living room. Although we haven’t gone on any trips yet, I can definitely see ourselves toting this along wherever we go until she is 6 months old. When it’s not in use, the leg poles can detach and it can be stored flat, and to us this is an attractive feature knowing that it doesn’t take up much room in our small living space or car trunk.

What I really like about this bouncer is its ability to change the angle of how it sits, all the while ensuring my baby gets the proper neck and head support that she needs. In the resting position, Jasmine can take naps when she’s tired from looking around. Because it is safe for them to nap in, it’s comforting to know that we can let her sleep without having to transfer her to her bassinet or crib. In the play position, she can be more elevated and see more of her surroundings. We have a play mobile that’s set at a fixed height, and this bouncer really came in handy, allowing her to be closer to the moving figures.

Overall, we are very pleased with this bouncer. Jasmine really enjoys being in it, and it gives us a little bit of a break from holding her so that we can finish a meal or do some chores around the house.
